Since 1993, the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter have been care givers and advocates for the animals.  Although we operate the Dearborn Animal Shelter under contract to the City of Dearborn, we depend upon donations for over 80% of our annual operating income.  These generous donations have resulted in our being able to find loving homes for all our adoptable animals for the past seven years and also for numerous community service programs such as low-cost spay neuter and microchip clinics.  The animals sincerely paws-itively appreciate your support.

5 Babies: Precious as Pearls

If you had a perfect pearl, would you just throw it away? That's what happened to one newborn kitten and her 4 brothers and sisters. Someone thought they weren't worth much. To us, though, each one was precious---like a gem.

Pearl and her 4 siblings, Persephone, Pinocchio, Picasso, and Pretzel, were discovered by a kind Samaritan who brought them to the shelter in early August.

They found a cozy home with us and a foster mama named Queen Frostine. Queenie had just finished nursing her own little ones and gladly opened her paws to take in the motherless babies.

Newborns, like this fearless 5-some, are in our care for at least 8 weeks until they are strong and healthy and ready to go home with their families. It takes more than TLC, though. The cost to help a pearl shimmer: $92!

 Please consider a monthly giving program.  This is an easy and meaningful way to donate.  We'll handle the "work".  You may become a Caring Heart (minimum monthly pledge is $42) or a Caring Friend (any monthly pledge amount). 


Honoree Donations:

Would you like to recognize an event for someone -- such as a birthday or holiday gift, the birth of a new baby, a promotion, graduation, or even a get well wish?  Or maybe recognize a new pet or a pet's birthday?  The person/pet  you are honoring will receive a note from us recognizing your gift within two weeks and will not be told the amount of your donation.  You also will receive a thank you and acknowledgement.

To complete your Honoree Donation please:
     -  Provide honoree information in the "Honoree Info" including the honoree's
        name, the event/occasion you are recognizing, and the name and address of the
        person who should be notified of your thoughtful gift,
     -  then click on the Donate button,

Memorial Donations:
