A wonderful family in Grosse Ile adopted Cranberry, a one year old calico cat on November 21, 2006. They took her home to be a part of their family and changed her name to Chloe. Their family expanded rapidly, because just the day before they adopted Chloe they found an 8 month old stray tuxedo kitten in the parking lot and took him into their family. They were very happy for the new additions to their family; just 4 months previous to their adoption of Chloe, they had to put down their beloved tuxedo cat, Sigmund. They write: " Chloe adjusted quickly to her new home, and her cat playmate, Sigmund, Jr. Chloe has found all the comfortable spots in our house to hang out. We are very happy to have given Chloe a nice, loving and warm home before Thanksgiving!" "Our family is now blessed with two wonderful felines, and we are certain that Sigmund, who is now in 'cat heaven' is looking down at us and smiling. The only problem now is that when my husband (or myself) ask about the "varmints", we have to clarify if it's our 2-legged [human] twins or the 4-legged furry cats!" |

Ninety-five year old Ardell Neff did not change the name of her new furry companion Avery when she adopted him in the beginning of February of 2007 and took him home to live with her in Oakwood Common, she felt it was best for him to keep his name. She tells us that his favorite toy is a stuffed mouse and that Avery loves to be chased. She writes: "I am very happy with him [Avery]. He is a wonderful pet. I feel he is happy also, now that he has adjusted. I have a balcony on the third floor and he likes to be out there watching the birds in the trees right near. I also feed the birds and he has a favorite spot inside where he sits to watch them. He, of course, is not let out on the balcony until the birds have left. Thank you folks for keeping him for me!! I wonder---is it permitted to let me know the people who had to give him up? I would love to call them and tell them how wonderful he is and how I love him very much." |

When Halina's Maine Coon cat, Sasha, died of cancer in April of 2006, she wrote to Petsmart inquiring about a Maine Coon cat she saw on the web site in December. She wrote, "I cannot wait to have another big, fluffy cooncat purring in my lap." On February 6, 2007 we received an email correspondence from Halina regarding
Boris:
Update sent in March 11, 2007: click here to read Halina's update and see photos of Neon Blue Boris and his brothers.
Update: excerpt from an email sent April 16, 2007 "He [Boris] is lovable and gorgeous, he is funny, he is considerate, he is magic." |

Chloe's name was changed to Reka, which is short for Eureka (as in vacuum---her nose is constantly sucking), when Mark and Lisa Bitterman adopted her in October of 2004 and brought her home to live with them in Dearborn Heights. Reka's family writes that her favorite activities are "eating and bothering her big brother Buddy (who was adopted from Detroit Animal Control). Did I mention eating?" The photo is of Buddy and Reka relaxing, Reka is on the right. "If she doesn't make you laugh everyday, there is something wrong with you. She is such a character! She also wants to say 'Hi' to Terri from puppy training." |

This space is for a photo of Marly |
Zippy's name was changed to Marly when Susan Nance of Trenton adopted him in November of 2006 and took him home. Susan writes: "Marly... has made a good adjustment into his new home! It took a good 4 weeks for him to feel comfortable! At first, he was cautious, timid, but now he has turned into a part of the family!" "He is a cuddler, loves to sit in our laps and be petted." "But his favorite thing to do is run around the yard and chase our 'Oliver'." "He is the fastest dog, ever! He runs and jumps from the time he gets up till he falls asleep at 9pm.!" "Thanks for all you do for the animals." |

Holly Belle's photo goes here |
Holly's name is now Holly Belle since Joan H. of Melvindale adopted the seven year old cat and welcomed her into her home in July of 2006. Joan writes: "I cannot say enough about what a good kitty Holly has been from day one. I adopted her to be a companion for my original male cat, Frosty, age 12; and both cats totally accept each other 100% and are very peaceful together! Also, Holly is very sweet-natured with her new Mom and will gaze into my eyes and raise her dainty paws reaching out to touch my face affectionately. She could not be a better fit into my home!" "Holly wants to be friends, also, with my new cat Mr. Sonny Boy, age 3; but he is a bit too frisky and much bigger than Holly, so I have to monitor him when they are together, as he plays a bit too rough to suit Holly and me." |

Monroe's family submitted their "Happy Tail" via the website a few months after they adopted him on October 31, 2006. What a Happy Halloween!! He was about four and a half months old when Kelly Kowalewski and Chris Wildbur brought him to their home in Farmington Hills. They report that Monroe's favorite toys are squeaky balls and ropes. They write: "Monroe has made friends with a Jack Russell Terrier that resides in the apartment complex and [he] loves attention!" "He does great with car rides and loves to run around the apartment." "He's almost housebroken, can sit on command, and is learning how to lay on command." "He loves to howl when you leave him alone and surprisingly, has not disturbed the neighbors with that too much." "He's a great dog and we're glad that we adopted him from the shelter." |
