going to the dogs

Sorry for muscling in on June Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat month, kitties, but doggone it, we have a lot of pups!  We are caring for (gulp) 47 dogs and 13 puppies on-site and 15 more in foster care.

How can you resist me?

Remember, we have only 38 kennels in our teeny building.  “We will have to convert one of our cat trailers to temporary dog headquarters,” says FFDAS Director Elaine Greene.

What can you do to help?  Join the FAD—it’s not a passing fancy!
1. Foster a pup
- We’ll provide supplies and training
2. Adopt today, and tell friends and family about our hot diggity dogs
3. Donate now
- We spend $79 to care for a puppy from intake to adoption
- $79 covers a health check, vaccinations, spay/neuter, special formula, and microchip

message from our luv-a-bullz

We are exceptional dogs who need more compassion and understanding than many other breeds.  We are known as pit bulls by the general public, but you can call us Luv-a-Bullz.  Can you open your heart to us?  We’ll provide more love and loyalty than you can imagine.

- Reduced adoption fee:  $100
- Reduced training fee:  $50

charlie the champion

Charlie, our June spokes-cat, underwent surgery to remove his infected leg, and is now recovering in foster care.  According to his foster mom, “Charlie is doing very well.  He walks, jumps, and runs as if he has always been missing a leg.”

Charlie sends meows of thanks to his angels

She continues, “Charlie keeps up with my other cats, and shows no sign of fear around my dogs.  I am so impressed!”  Thanks to the angelic resonse to Charlie’s story, he is on his way to enjoing the life of a champion.

Interested in adding Charlie to your family?  He will be ready to go home after June 19.  Call us at 313.943.2697.

ADOPT

Kittens are cute, but seniors are super.  Tiger is a rakish 11-year-old, young enough to provide great feline companionshp and savvy enough to know when it’s time to snuggle on the couch.

volunteer

The shelter has many, many dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to care for – more dogs than the norm; and we sure could use volunteer help!  Volunteers can help with washing dishes, folding laundry, cleaning, taking dogs for walks, cat cuddling, speaking to potential adopters and more.

If you have already attended orientation and became a volunteer, please come in when you have free time.  If you want to become a volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Irene Addison at 313.943.2697, ext. #3555, or volunteers@dearbornanimals.org.

We sure appreciate our volunteers’ time and efforts!
