open your heart 4 loki

Six-month-old Loki is just one of our Valentine spokes-pups.  She has the heart of a champion in a little broken body.  Loki came to us a stray with extensive damage to her pelvis.

Loki needs your open heart

Loki requires extra special TLC, so she has gone home with a foster family and will remain in foster care until she is hardy enough to withstand surgery.  We will follow her progress as she recuperates.  Read more of Loki’s story now.

Loki reminds us that “Caring Cupids” are needed for all of our rescues at Valentine’s and throughout the year.  You help mend their bodies and their hearts.  This e-issue contains a “veritable variety” of ways to help.  Loki also requests that you send “tweet-hearts” out for her, and share her story on Facebook!

Attention, volunteers!

Our dogs and cats need you more than ever!

If you’ve got an hour or two to spare this weekend or any time, please come to the shelter and spend some time with the animals.  Their success in getting adopted relies greatly on their behavior, and that’s where you come in.  Teach a dog to walk nicely on a leash, brush a cat, or introduce visitors to pets.

In addition, assisting with laundry, dishes and other maintenance tasks frees up staff to work with animals; which helps to find them a home.  Thank you so much, and remember, I’m asking for help on behalf of the animals who can’t ask you themselves.

Tracy Balazy, Volunteer Coordinator, 313.943.2697, #355 or volunteers@dearbornanimals.org.
